— A few things from way back.

When I was still an Associate Art Director at Leo Burnett, I —and every other human in the building— was put on Merit cigarettes to come up with a new campaign and "look" for the brand. I went back to my painting background and came up with this. It got pretty far up the chain before it was decided that the illustrations might appeal to children. My fifteen minutes.

Some print comps for Tampax. Another campaign that got pretty far before people became uncomfortable...

A couple ads for Allstate Insurance. I got to use my grandmother in an ad titled, "The Merry Widows" (she's third from the right), and I felt really bad after having a sheep sheared in the wrong season. (She got a sweater afterwards.)

Working on the Pillsbury Doughboy was always fun. I got really good at making his giggle. Here is an ad for a monster cookie, aimed at tweens. OMG!

Working on Pillsbury involved lots and LOTS of storyboards and I soon developed my own style. Here's a sample that features some nuns.

The Old El Paso brand was also brought in under Pillsbury, where I continued to hone my storyboard skills.

A storyboard for Starkist's Charlie the Tuna. I really enjoyed drawing sea creatures.

I freelanced on the Wayport account, whose product was one of the first wireless carriers. We thought we were so cool.

My very first ad, ever. It was in Milan while I was still an Account Executive *gasp*. The Creative Director there was wonderful and gave me my first chance. I never looked back.
